There are 2 strands which best describe what I am putting out into the world and explain the name of this new blog:
Know Thyself + Handmade Jewelry = Know Thy Jewelry
The combination of the two come from a deep place in my heart…
“People make themselves appear ridiculous when they are trying to know obscure things before they know themselves…”
The term ‘Know Thyself’ dates all the way back to Ancient Greece.
It has also had various interpretations in the recent handful of centuries.
The way I interpret the saying with a clearview is self-awareness.
I see it as being in tune with what you like, what you don’t like, and having the strength to honor both of them, moment-to-moment, regardless of the reactions from other people.
And that comes from self-acceptance…
Self-acceptance of who we are, with all our quirks and imperfections.
If we truly love ourselves then we become open to others loving us.
If we value our existence then others will value us as well.
This is where I’m at with my handmade jewelry.
There is a spiritual quality when using raw metals to make handmade jewelry.
From the design to the cutting to the finishing touches and everything in between…
Every step of the process is personal for me.
And I imbue my love & care into every piece.
I like to think that people who wear my handmade jewelry feel and value this.
Additionally, I choose and create designs that reflect a certain motif or idea.
For example, the geometric jewelry I make has certain patterns which symbolize feelings and qualities someone might want to focus on or amplify.
Connection with family & friends.
Just to name a few.
Similarly, historic jewelry I make can have protective qualities.
It can help people help themselves.
To free energy and hang-ups from the past.
To be fully present in the Now.
And to clear the path for a limitless future.
Each person will be drawn to any one or more of these different aspects depending on their own journey and level of self-awareness.
Connecting Know Thyself + Handmade Jewelry
I’m interested in understanding myself deeply and making jewelry that aligns with my personal values, beliefs, feelings and perspectives.
I’m interested in helping discover what kind of jewelry is perfect for you…
Thus, the Know Thy Jewelry Blog was born.
For me, this blog is an exploratory experience as I connect with others while staying true to myself and the handmade jewelry I share with the world.
I hope you can come along for the adventure and create some fresh experiences for yourself!
